It takes FOOORRREEVER to scan but ends up NOTHING. What a waste of time . Not only that, it refused to uninstall but keep asking me to pay…what a crap!! I will not use it in the future. Period!!!

  2. Bloatware!
I do not understand how such a bloated hog for download and install ever got any good reviews.
I have never had such a problem for years. I have a very fast computer with 4G ram and fast Internet.
The program right now is on the 3rd attempt for installing. Crazy errors such as failed download :Bad CRC, etc.
I have had to go through contortions to get this far on attempt 3. NO response from HERMAN Street where I bought it.
    Beware!

    Pros
    user interface is ok
    Cons
    multiple bugs
    drastically slows machine
stops and breaks suddenly and leaves machine without antivirus protection; comes back only after multiple restarts
took me an hour to resolve the mess it left after uninstall
    Summary
Search the net and you’ll find multiple complaints about BitDefender. It is so bugged that it’s totally useless.
Stay away from this software, there are many free antivirus programs (I got one now) which will perform better and will be (at least) stable without ruining your machine.

This is the worst software I have ever purchased. It does not work with Gmail, auto-scan does not work, customer service is terrible. Don’t buy it!!!

    Pros
I am impressed by it detection rates and proactive defense. And i have to agree it is a good antivirus.
    Cons
Firewall blocks my internet connection so it can’t update. If it can’t update it is useless.
Auto pilot feature give me problems and annoyance.
After trying to fix it, i gave up as i had a head ache just trying to comprehend it settings.
And my laptop felt slower than usual.
    Summary
I agree the AntiVirus is the best at the moment(i say moment because who knows when the other brands might catch up). But it internet security and maybe even it total security suites should not be release to the public. I mean it seems that bitdefender works pretty well with powerful, newer computer. but people these days don’t have the money to buy a new one. I liked the layout in the old version to show advanced view and easy view of you choice.
But i suggest now they should work out their firewall, and maybe fix it to be lighter on laptops and older computers. it could have been the best internet security suite, if it wasn’t for those problems.

Outsourced technical support, bloated client, multiple issues myself on my three computers and also various users online. Technical support is relatively helpful, but doesn’t know the product well. There are better AV’s out there for the money.

    Pros
If it is indeed working properly, probably it will work fine. I don’t know.
    Cons
Although it has a good detection rate, this suite is not yet ready to be released. Firewall blocks a lot of programs. Can’t configure it.
Very heavy on resources and slow down my laptop too much.
    Summary
When I try to download objectdock from Cnet download.com it blocks the program to be installed, I tried everything. I don’t know why this was blocked, another thing is I have to remove Malware bytes, it’s not allowed to have this as a second security program. I have to uninstall it before running Bitdefender. This program is very heavy on resources, I have an Acer Aspire I5 core with 8GB ram, this should work fine but slowed down my laptop incredibly. Suite not ready, lot of bugs still. Just wait for a couple of moths before you buy this. try it first!

I’ll make this brief because another reviewer had the same experience that I did with the 2011 BD: I installed the software on my computer that has XP and got the Blue Screen of Death-the computer wouldn’t load Windows-and had to go in via BIOS in safe mode and get the program out. After reading some comments on the Internet, I changed a few things, and re-installed. The Web pages loaded at dial-up speed, if they loaded at all. Then I tried turning off each of the BD modules one at a time. No luck. I contacted Biodefender support (email only) and got a message back that made no sense-I think I must have gotten someone who flunked the English as a Second Language test for the job. I asked a question about the email and got a response about two weeks later-at which time I had taken Biodefender off my computer. Incidentally, I loaded the program on my wife’s computer that has Vista and it worked fine-no blue screen, no slow Web page loading. Moral of the story: don’t buy this product if you have XP on your computer and be prepared to fix your own problems because support is non-existent.

If you are conversant in writing your own code, there appears to be a miniprogram you can insert to keep the program from holding up Web page loading when using XP; Google it.

Btw, I can’t say enough good things about Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program and also their competent, friendly support.

UPDATE 11/142011: I tried once again, after successfully installing the software on a computer with Windows 7 and one with Vista, to install it on my XP computer. This time it didn’t give me the Blue Screen of Death, it just slowed Web pages to dial up speed (again). Oh, and that “money back guarantee”? that’s after a hefty restocking fee plus postage. Google “Bitdefender slows web pages” for more validation of the problem…but evidently, just with XP (in my experience).

  10. Bitdefender’s engine is great but their antimalware products have slipped (e.g., greatly affect system performance, slow browsing, etc.). Not worth running.

    Pros
I can’t find anything positive about it at this time.
    Cons
My system is barely moving. Takes forever to load pages and I’m just totally frustrated.
    Summary
I’ve just uninstalled it and will be asking for a refund!

    Pros
It might be good if it worked properly as it has a good set of features. At least this new version didn’t cause any BSODs like the previous version (although perhaps that was because it didn’t stay on my PC for more than an hour).
    Cons
Stopped IE & Firefox from working. Wouldn’t let me set up parental controls alerts. Networking only worked intermittently. Online backup refused to work at all.
    Summary
It’s hard to say anything about this software without resorting to expletives. AVOID.

    Pros
    Good Features
    Cons
    Screwed up my internet connection
    Summary
First I had problems getting it to install. Finally did and the interface looked promising. Then I started having problems with my internet connection. It was very slow and my wifi would drop out often. Windows would repair it only for a short while later the same thing happened. Thank goodness it was trial version that I could uninstall.

    Pros
Haven’t owned it long enough to be honest about anything good yet.
    Cons
Same with the cons. Haven’t yet owned it long enough to list a lot of bad stuff. Stay tuned!
    Summary
At first I had a few hiccups, but after a few minor tweaks it seems to have settled down. My tray icon had a habit of hiding itself , but also seems to have settled down. I’m very finnicky with my security software, so any more bad things with this program and it will find itself uninstalled in a minute. Stay tuned!

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 and have used Bitdefender for years. I ordered BD Internet Security 2012 when BD Antivirus 2012 conflicted with Comodo Firewall (see my BD antivirus review).

Installation on two computers was uneventful, and things went well for a few days. Then … Logout would bring up the BSOD. On one occasion during Bootup, Vista informed me that the system would not load, and I should repair or reinstall Windows Vista off my Windows DVD. No way.

I traced all this definitely to BD Internet Security (disable BD services, everything OK; enable BD services, crash, etc.). Without going into details, the BD files became corrupted repeatedly – the BD supplied Repair function would only temporarily fix that. Uninstall and reinstall also gave only temporary relief. To rub salt into the wound, occasionally the BD icon would disappear from the system tray, and would reappear only after a cold boot, not a restart.

This is way too much trouble from what should be a background program in an otherwise stable Windows Vista environment.

I give two stars only because the possibility exists that there is something very special going on with my computers (malware, bad drivers, etc.), but I doubt it. There is virtually identical behavior on two machines with the same operating system, but very different user environments and applications.

    I am very disappointed.

    ??? Pros ??? is this a joke?
    Cons
ZERO SUPPORT – I have sent over 20 requests for tech support – never got any response at all.
Too many problems to list here. Crashes, bugs, CPU hog, No user control over handling malware.
the “Help” system is a total JOKE!! NOTHING IN IT !!!
    Summary
How can this piece of CR*P be receiving editors choice awards from places like Maximum PC? They should be included in a class action lawsuit against BitDefender for stealing millions of $$ from customers following their advice. Please, is there a lawyer reading this? We really need a class action to destroy this incompetent, thieving idiot company.

I installed this product on my Desktop and Laptop computers. On the Desktop I could not update the Virus definitions which made it useless. I made several attempts with their Customer Service to fix it and followed all of their instructions but I could not fix the problem. It worked for a while on my Laptop but then it Stopped working after a few days. The company will not give me a refund because I purchased it through Amazon, and Amazon’s policy is to not give refunds on software that has been opened so I am stuck with not getting a refund.

  19. Pros
Used to be a very good Security Program.
    Cons
Hogs CPU usage and keeps programs from running.
